Privacy Notice – How We Use Your Information

Your GP practice keeps records about your health and care. These records may include your name, address, date of birth, details of appointments, test results, medicines, and reports from other health and care providers.

We use this information to:

  • Provide you with safe, effective care and treatment

  • Refer you to hospitals or other health services when needed

  • Plan and improve local health services

  • Support research and public health work (where appropriate)

Types of information we use

  • Personal data (e.g. name, date of birth, NHS number)

  • Health data (e.g. medical history, test results, prescriptions)

  • Sometimes, data may be anonymised or pseudonymised for planning and research.

Who we share your information with
We only share information with other health and social care organisations involved in your care, such as hospitals, community services, and social care teams. Information is not shared with third parties without your permission, unless required by law or to protect others.

Keeping your information safe
Your data is stored securely, with strict controls on who can access it. All staff are trained in confidentiality and data protection.

Your rights
Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access your records

  • Ask for corrections if your information is wrong

  • Request limits on how your data is used

  • Object to certain uses of your data

  • Raise concerns if you are unhappy with how your information is handled
