Prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions

If your doctor has said that you may order a repeat prescription of your medication, please use the right hand side of you prescription form to do this and drop it into the main surgery at the Market Place site.

Alternatively if you have registered for our online services you can order via the link at the top of this page.

Requests for repeat prescriptions are not taken over the telephone and are only given following authorisation by a doctor.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

If you would prefer to collect the prescription directly from the local pharmacy please mark the request form accordingly.

Medication Reviews

It will be necessary for you to see your GP regularly to review any medication which you are taking. The date for this review is printed on the right hand side of the form.

If this date is due, and the doctor needs to see you, you will be asked to make a routine appointment with your doctor in plenty of time for your prescription to be issued and dispensed.

If you have regular blood tests in connection with your medication then please arrange an appointment for these in advance of your review.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
